Of quaint cafes

It was after clay pot chicken rice for dinner at PJ oldtown. Out and about on a Friday night, it felt too early to just return home immediately. Without a destination in mind and bored with the usual kopitiams/coffee outlets, we were in search of a drinking place hoping for something different.

We did not have to drive for long before discovering this cafe at Damansara Uptown called - Fat Spoon. As soon as I stepped into it, I loved that it has its own identity, design and atmosphere - very unique.

Before entering the premise, it already has a hint of quirkiness from the onset...but in a comfortable way of course.

This here is the menu. It brought back memories of my childhood where my mother taught me English with this series. I think she did a good job.

The view from where I was seated was rather interesting. A typical classroom blackboard, a bare cement kitchen top and a retro color painted Ikea study table.

To the right side of my rear, check out these old school furnitures. The owners really took time to retrofit this outlet. Pretty amazing that it is so 70s/80s.

Directly behind me was this table, although you cannot see it from here, was made out of one of those foot powered sewing machines from ages ago. The grill right beside the table must have been extracted from some old houses too. What was really nostalgic is the design on the top of the wall - the rectangular with a diamond shape in the center. That was what my house used to have in Kuantan and smaller birds could fly into the house through that!

The hot chocolate - generous with chocolate powder, creamy and a little sweet.

The latte - as you know it.

A bunch of people who added some cozy atmosphere to the place. Notice the hanging decor, quirky!

The bill was presented as a bookmark. A funky and good use of unwanted books.

Check out Fat Spoon some time, it has WiFi too! Closed on Saturdays though...bummer.
