Our Take On The City

It was a public holiday. I was awake at 6 am and 15 minutes later, I was driving nonchalantly to meet up with 3 friends for a casual photography session at an all too familiar urban landscape. It was unusual for any one of us but we decided that it would be more practical to travel using the Light Rail Transit and so off we hopped on on our journey.

In hindsight, it was very fortunate for us to have glorious morning light as compared to grey skies had we decided to hold it one morning later. But guess what, we did not and I am glad I caught some images that mother nature provided amazing lighting for. I would like to share them here.

This was taken wondering if the occupants of those skyscrapers ever basked in the gentle morning sunlight while admiring this simple beauty.

OR have they always been rushing in and out of their offices without so much as a glance at their own lives?

This is Abby, carefully recording the image of the sun rays peeking out from behind the two towering blocks of concrete.

Ever wondered what the calmness of water can present to you? I no longer wonder.

This, I believe is a photographed-to-death attraction and I also believe that what sets 2 images of the same scene apart is the lighting. It is far from perfect but this is my representation of that belief.

A little play with angles of composition and taking advantage of the calmness.

Here is Seng Keong making an image of the rear of a thirsty cat. The actual image later on. And no, the cat did not end up in the pool though I wondered what if *evil* :-)

An intrigued early bird.

The man with breakfast. Always makes me hungry.

Perhaps another shot-to-death attraction. Could you guess where this is? Look at next photo for clue ;-)

Kibarkanlah Jalur Gemilang!

Seng Keong doing his thing again, capturing images of unsuspecting victims.

Could you imagine rushing to shut all these windows when it starts to pour?

All walks of life set foot upon these stairs and I chance upon this silhouette image of this lady.

A quaint rickshaw at Oldtown Kopitiam - how befitting.

Yes Yasmin, harmony and forgivingness are both rare commodities these days.

The following are images taken by Seng Keong.

His take on the gridded buildings.

Remember the cat? This is that shot he took at close proximity.

We also meddled with some wireless flash. Here is me posing silly.

What's an early morning without a proper group photo on site? Wireless flash to keep our faces lit in the shade.

I guess he discovered the elegance of the calmness as well.

The unsuspecting "victim".

Oh dang, he shot me!

A parting shot at a farewell lunch before Seng Keong and Yee Leng sets foot in Singapore in search of their rainbows. Have a good one my friends!

WenWay's Birthday!

Suffice to say so it begins the risky probablity of this blog becoming a photoblog, which may not be a bad thing as time might tell. Anyhow, here are the photos with the beautiful people who graced WenWay's little birthday celebration.

So to start it off in no particular sequence, a big shoutout to the DKSH & Co. and a BIG thank you to Dennis who brought in the projector but ended up unused due to the exploded TV incident, apologies for the trouble taken! Next time, we'll be sure to make full use of it and a place without exploding TVs =)

To my dear ex-colleagues-turned-goodfriends who made a subtle entry but huge in presence, know that we appreciate the 3 of you joining us. And to the 4th who could not make it, be sure to join us next time =)

Now, this is a group of high school friends that goes by the moniker - MF. Do not ask me what does it stands for, I would not want to know either *hehe* Here are some of the most eligible bachelors and a handsome young man and an elegant young lady *ahem*

Following that, here are at least 3 wonderful couples lacking only a fine lady to make it 4 *wink*

Allow me to introduce this bunch of people collectively known as The Mangkuks with some members MIA. What more can I say...memang MangKUK! I like~ Hehe.

Here we have a pair of medical professionals, making time to drop by so thank you!

Here's another wonderful couple and the handsome young man and the elegant young lady again!

The birthday girl with them pretty ladies.

Well, are you happy with your less-than-stellar pose in this one Mr Dennis? Hmm...

Look at how the Camho Crowd (TM) grew! First, it was just Kenneth and moi.

With another 3 masculine ones, it became a party of five.

Seconds later came 3 fairer ones, making it eight counts of 80's babies in this gang!

This next shot was perhaps one of my favorites, cukup spontaneous cukup uniform cukup lawak!

Much like the one above, this also is listed as one of my favs simply because of the spontaneous poses and expresions.

Shoot From The Hip - a gift from Ah Ting and Amy!

Bejewelled* Cupcakes - A gift from Ah Ting and Amy!

Gift from Steph and Bee Chin for the lady with squishy piggies!

Me and the gift with equal if not more squishy piggies from Steph and Bee Chin!

Group shot after unwrapping our gifts.

Last but not least, gifts from the ex-DKC bunch!

While I was not paying attention, my drink topped up by itself...I wonder why.

Another shot with the ex-DKC trio.

In here, there is 1 who I'd like to thank - a very kind Wee Lim who spared his PS3 and the whole Guitar Hero set for our celebration. It gave the atmosphere to the crowd and we're grateful for that, thank you! In here, there are 2 people I'd like to poke their eye balls for arriving so late to join in the fun but that would be cruel so let's just forget about it ok Mr Jason Tan and Ms Tan Shu Mei? =)

Apart from the nonsense blabbered along with the photos, it was truly heartwarming for WenWay to have so many of you accepting our invitation and actually made it to celebrate with us. Thank you!

Untuk Lebah Dagu, Kami Nyanyi Lagu

What came as a success after many emails is now perpetually stuck to our minds known as Operasi Lebah Dagu, a direct translation of the Bee Chin Operation. Underneath it all, it is essentially a surprise birthday lunch for Bee Chin. Here she is looking surprised! Or so we hoped.

This would be her Bejewelled* made-to-order birthday cupcakes. Very symbolic, won’t you agree?

Naturally, a birthday song was in order.

How BEE-fitting!

A decent group shot for posterity.

Not surprisingly, a predator a.k.a. Sharon lurks and strikes Bee Chin from behind with her “filthy paws”!

The following are shots of Bee Chin with the people who made Operasi Lebah Dagu a success…including the predator in the photo above, of course.

Here, Steph tries to grope her to make up for all the effort she went through to make the operation a success.

The meal was equally delicious, here are two shots before all the hungry people grabbed the food.

Anyway, *yum*!

Afterwards, the bunch of songbirds decided to go for a Karaoke session. So, off we went! In there, the Primary Songbird almost scared another songbird to death with her cock cork-popping feat. See it for yourself. I sense his fear...too.

But hey, no birds were harmed so cheers to that!

In the midst of it all, two individuals were destined (Read: “paksa-rela” / coerced) to perform MJ’s Thriller dance. In all sporting-ness, here they are basking in all the glory.

*Twist IT*

*SHOUT it*

*Jump & Twist it SOME MORE*

*ROCKing it out*

Skies were already dark by the time we left and how could we leave without taking some “hamsap/jialat” photos. Viewer discretion is advised.

Here are the hamsap girls.

Presenting the jialat guys.

Last but not least, we certainly hope you had an enjoyable birthday, Bee Chin!
